Marathwada System:

In the Marathwada System, Every field is surveyed with a base line and perpendicular offset over it, and these offsets(Rundis) divides entire area in to Right Angled Triangles and Trapeziums. To get the area - Sum of areas of all Vaslas.

Tippon- A map which represent the rough shape of a land with measurements. Generally this term used in Maratwada Surveys.

Lambi- A straight longest line that running across the field on which offsets(Rundis) are taken to plot the field.

Rundi- A perpendicular line which is taken on the base line i.e., Lambi to plot all geometrical vertices(corners) of a field.

Vasla- A shape bound by the Lambi, Rundi and Fline. Vasla numbers are used to dived the given tippon into number of simple shapes such as for easy area calculation.

Shamil - A part of a survey field which is to be included during area calculation in the chalta number usually represents as a positive.

Vazai - A part of a survey field which is to be excluded during area calculation in the chalta number usually represents as a negative.

Total Area - Total Area of chalta/ survey no is obtainined from deducting Total Vazai area from Total Shamil Area
Total Area = Total Shamil - Total Vazai

Area Calculation:

Area of Triangle : (1/2) x Base x Height
                               : (1/2) x Total Lambi x Rundi
                               : Total Lambi x (Rundi/2)
: Total Lambi x Half Rundi
                                : TL x HR

Area of Trapezium : Base x Average of two Heights
: Total Lambi x Average of Two Rundis
: Total Lambi x Half of Total Rundis
                                : TL x HR
