UTM ZONES IN INDIA

Now a days, the Geo-referenced works has been taken up across the India. The Government of India is also established its own CORS stations for the Land Survey purpose in Various Government Projects and Also issued to private consultancies on monthly subscription. So, it is essential to learn some basis about the UTM zones.

        The UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) system is a spatial referencing system widely used by the land surveyors, geo spatial professionals and mapping applications

Use of UTM system in Land Surveying:

• Define Survey Number Boundaries: UTM coordinates are used to describe property boundaries, parcel corners and other survey related control points and benchmarks.
• Conduct Field Measurements: Surveyors use GPS, Total Station, and other instruments to collect UTM coordinates for physical features and coodinates.
• Create maps ad Plans: UTM coordinates are used to create accurate maps and plans, including topographic maps, cadastral maps, and site plans etc,
• Transfer Data: UTM coordinates facililate the transfer of data between different survey software, GIS system, and mapping applications.
